La photographie permet une interactivité entre l’humain et les êtres sauvages dans leur milieu naturel. Le photographe exerçant son métier jette un pont vers le monde animal sous son objectif et il devient le scribe d’un moment choisi. L’émotion est ressentie: la langueur hautaine de l’alligator, la sévérité dans la silhouette d’un héron, la voracité d’un petit écureuil dégustant sa noisette.. sont elles partagées? On ne le saura jamais. Une chose est pourtant sure, nous partageons un espace urbain (ou portuaire,) et plus largement la même Terre.

Photographing Living Creatures
Photography provides a fertile ground for the human and the animal life to interact in the context of Nature. (but not exclusively) I walk on the bridges of Miami and see a sea cow, an iguana, a sting ray, a dolphin and remember that the site once belonged to them. It is a somewhat humbling experience. All a photographer can do is pay homage to their beauty, their majesty or their drollery . The photographer, in other words, becomes like a scribe who records the moment of their appearance – the haughty indolence of the alligator, the austere silhouette of the majestic heron, the delight of the small squirrel pouncing on a hazelnut in New York’s Central Park. Are our feelings shared by the animal? We will never know, but one thing is certain. We, as humans and they participate in animating the urban context (or port) and also, in a wider scheme, our Mother Earth.
